The tiny, unassuming town of Gopalpur is located on the Bay of Bengal, just 16 kilometers from Berhampur. Gopalpur was once bustling with maritime activities, for which Odisha is well-known for many years. It was the main port through which South East Asian settlers first sailed. It was a popular and well-known seaport under the British rule until 1942, when it was closed down by the Second World War and the separation from Bunna (now Myanmar). Taptapani, set against evergreen thick forests is famous for its hot sulfur spring. This bath is refreshing during winter. The scenic beauty of Taptapani is stunning even in other seasons. Clouds can be seen circling the trees during rainy season. An OTDC Panthanivas has bath tubs that are directly connected to the hotspring.
MAHURI KALUA (30 Km)
Another scenic spot is Mahuri Kalua, which can be seen on the way to Taptapani. In the deep greenery of nature, there is a Shrine to Goddess Kalua.
PATISONAOUR (30 Km)
Another beach is found south of Gopalpur on the border with Andhra Pradesh. This is a quiet and private beach that spans the river Bahuda.

JAUGADA (35 KM).
Jaugada is located five kilometers from Taratarini. It is famous for its kshokan rock inscription, similar to the one found near Bhubaneswar. The suburbs are home to a large number of bricks, tiles and potteries as well as beads, terracotta items, punch-marked coins, and Mauryan kme-marked coins. A ruined fort is also found in the suburbs. It is an indicator of the Rushikulya Valley Civilization’s ancient heritage that once ruled the region.
RAMHHA
Rambha is known for its beautiful scenery and bird sanctuary. Chilika is home to thousands of migratory and resident birds. It covers an area of approximately one thousand square kilometers. The lake is a great place to boat in any season. For a pilgrimage, there is the Shakti Shrine Kalijai. Rambha can be found at the southern end, in tranquil and serene surroundings.
